SPRINGTIME CONCERT OF MASTER WORKS with Euphonium Soloist Jack Lorens

A program of unfamiliar gems written by both old masters and contemporary composers to take audiences on a journey of discovery spanning four centuries of great music. Each half of the program pairs older works with younger counterparts.  The first half presents Gershwin’s Jazz and Brahms’ romanticism with a fanfare by Krzystof Penderecki and a brass symphony by Brian Balmages.  After the intermission works by Bach and Debussy lead into Phillip Sparke’s Harlequin where guest artist Jack Lorens, a previous finalist at the Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Festival and currently a Masters student at Indiana University, joins as soloist. Percy Grainger’s masterwork Lincolnshire Posy caps off the performance.
