Bay Colony Brass, a 20-member brass and percussion ensemble directed by Channing Yu, visits old and new Christmas traditions in its next performance. From the exotic turns of the fife and drum in Pat-a-Pan to the plaintive cries of Coventry Carol, from the bliss of Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring to the wonder and awe in Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium, Bay Colony Brass tells the stories of the season. Meanwhile, Anthony DiLorenzo evokes Hollywood flair with a reimagination of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; John Rutter, modern master of Christmas carols, brings rustic levity with his Shepherd’s Pipe Carol; and Leroy Anderson brings an enjoyable equine lope with his beloved Sleigh Ride. Sing along with Bay Colony Brass as it plays other beloved carols, including Ding! Dong! Merrily on High, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and others.
